VoIPstudio – In the Finals of ISPA!

VoIPstudio has done it again! The finalists for the 19th ISPA (Internet Service Provider Association UK) have just been announced and VoIPstudio made the list. VoIPstudio has bagged a place in the competitive ‘Best VoIP’ category, passing many technical and operational tests.

Hosted VoIP has been getting a lot of publicity recently but there are still millions of businesses yet to make the switch. Companies of various sizes are trying to tap into this potential in a bid to expand the market and gain new customers.

However there just as many bad vendors as there are reputable providers. Businesses are finding it difficult to choose between the hundreds of service providers that flood the market at present. The annual ISPA awards are the most prestigious industry awards in the United Kingdom. iT also has the honor of being the longest running event in the Internet industry. The ISPA awards aim to recognize the best ISPs in the business, across a number of categories. ISPA represents the UK Internet industry to the rest of the world whether it is regulators, the government, media bodies or even the general public.

ISPA Selection Process

Unlike the typical ‘Top 10’ lists generated by media blogs, the ISPA awards are not based on just subjective evaluations or online customer reviews. The nominees in any category have to pass rigorous technical tests, some of which are truly comprehensive. Each one of these rounds tests various aspects (uptime, reliability, quality etc.) of any Internet service provider. The testing is done by an independent partner called thinkbroadband. Failing the technical rounds is a sure fire way of dropping out!

This year there are fifty finalists in a total of 15 different categories, with some companies winning multiple nominations. Of course some categories may not have technical testing (best customer service for instance) and these are evaluated based on written entry forms. The final winners across all categories will be determined by a panel of leading industry experts. The winners in each category will be presented with their awards at a ceremony in central London on 13th July.

The ISPA awards bestow recognition on more than just ISPs. Some of the finalists have been nominated in categories such as ‘best rural broadband’ and even ‘best tech law firm.’ The categories include hardware manufacturers and cloud companies as well. The sheer breadth and types of Internet based services represented in the annual ISPA event is breathtaking. Many of the finalists play an important role in shaping the Internet of the future.
